Here is a list of many green changes that you can implement into the way you live.
Electricity- check in with your power company for green power or renewable energy in the place of traditional fossil fuel burning electricity.
Replace the light bulbs in your home with compact fluorescent bulbs.
Turn off or unplug lights and appliances when they are not being used.
Turn your thermostat up two degrees in the summer and down two degrees in the winter.
Install a thermostat timer.
Turn hot water heater no higher than 120 degrees F.
Wrap hot water heater w/ a hot water heater blanket/insulator
Use less hot water whenever possible.
Replace the filters in your air conditioner or furnace on schedule.
Make sure that your home is properly insulated and weatherized to prevent heat/air from escaping.
Wash clothes and dishes whenever there is a full load.
Hang clothes to dry.
Defrost refrigerator consistently.
When buying appliances look for Energy Star.
Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!
Buy recycled products.
Buy fresh not frozen foods.
Support locally grown produce and farmers.
Buy organically grown produce.
Avoid products with excess packaging.
“Paper or Plastic?” Neither! Take your own bags to the market.
Cut back on meat consumption. Methane is a huge contributor to greenhouse gases.
When it’s time for a new car, shop hybrids and fuel efficient vehicles.
Check tire pressures on your car regularly.
Keep your car properly tuned up.
Carpool, walk, ride a bike whenever possible.
Fly less.
Vote for candidates that share your same environmental agenda.
Calculate and offset your carbon footprint at least once a year.
