Global warming and human pollution is a disturbing direct relationship that we have been following for quite some time. Just like you, Go Evergreen is deeply concerned about global warming. With our collective knowledge comes a since of personal and community responsibility to take action and fight the good fight. The earths average air and water temperatures are rising at a rapid rate and have been doing so since the mid twentieth century. This rise in temperatures are due in large part to a byproduct of human pollution, carbon dioxide or CO2. Carbon dioxide or CO2 is found in greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are naturally part of our atmosphere and regulate the earth's temperature. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing at an alarming rate at the hand of human pollution. As the amounts of CO2 in greenhouse gases rises, it is causing an increase thickening the earths atmosphere trapping excess heat from the sun that would have normally been allowed to escape. This trapped heat raises the air and water temperatures causing erratic weather and ecological changes, we call this global warming.
From violent hurricanes and tsunamis to the melting polar ice caps, we are witnessing the effects of global warming. This disturbing trend of increasing air and water tempratures is not going to change unless we change the way we live. We can greatly reduce the amount of unnecessary CO2 that we create by making better choices everyday. Go Evergreen promotes adopting a "green" lifestyle to reduce the amounts of CO2 that we are responsible for. Along with positive green changes in our daily life, we should also offset the amount of carbon we create. Go Evergreen offers a carbon offset opportunity by planting trees through carbon offset forestry. |
